Day 7: Around Cortina d’Ampezzo

29 Apr

Day 7 will wrap up our weeklong traverse through the stark and beautiful Dolomites. We will get to know each other quite well. Hopefully we will eat well and sleep well. Will we be sore? Will we be tired? Will Cortina d’Ampezzo offer us a well-deserved rest from our journey? Here are some scenes from the area around Cortina. Above is the Croda da lago group, part of the Natural Park of Sesto. Refugio Palmieri is shown below.

One of our last stops: Lago Misurina.

The tourist center of Cortina. In the winter a skier’s paradise as indicated in the vintage poster.

The sun sets on our last day in the Dolomites, and for me Austria beckons.

I love the reflected image in the lake! Have you done much hiking on this trip?

This will be a wonderful trip! Lago di Misurina is fantastic and the Dolomites are stunning. Wish I was there…went many years ago, back in the 70’s.
