Weather or not?

29 May

Twenty-three days until takeoff. I thought I would check in on the weather of the places where I will be traveling in June and July. Undoubtedly things will heat up over the next three weeks, but I was surprised when I compared today’s St. Louis temperatures with those of my European destinations.

  • St. Louis (my home)    High 86        Low 71
  • Zurich, Switzerland      High 53        Low 40
  • Konstanz, Germany     High 53        Low 39
  • Luzern, Switzerland     High 51         Low 39
  • Bolzano, Italy               High 66        Low 45
  • Colfosco, Italy             High 37         Low 35     SNOW
  • Ortisei, Italy                  High 57        Low 37
  • Cortina, Italy                High 57        Low 37
  • Venice, Italy                  High 70       Low 49
  • Salzburg, Austria         High 55        Low 43
  • Munich, Germany        High 58        Low 41

All temperatures noted are in degrees Fahrenheit.

Every single destination has cooler temperatures than St. Louis here in the Midwest. I am a happy camper. I don’t care for heat. Venice has the highest temperature today, and it is still 16 degrees cooler than it is in St. Louis.

Boy, you are getting really scientific about this! You might just as well, it is a big trip and I hope you have really great time, Rosemarie!

Not really scientific. I just want to know the temperatures. St. Louis is pretty miserable in the summer time. I am delighted if the places where I am traveling are cooler than what I’ve got.

What’s the difference in humidity Rosemarie? That can make a whole lot of difference. Venice will undoubtedly be hot in June/July and can be quite sticky! It is pretty chilly and wet in Northern Europe at the moment 😦

I doubt that Venice can be any worse than St. Louis in the summer. Talk about hot and sticky. At least Venice is near the water.

Just this morning, I heard on the radio that they were forecasting a shitty cold and rainy summer this year for all of Europe…

I just hope I don’t have to hike in the mountains in the rain.

Oh, I hope so, too! For you!!! Fingers crossed 🙂

You must be excited for your trip. I live in Frankfurt but have yet to travel to all those places you listed so I’m really envious!

I’ve waited 38 years to make this return trip. I’m sure you won’t have to wait so long.

Hope so! Enjoy your trip, it’ll be great.

We are having an uncommonly slow start to summer, or even Spring, over here! Good thing you want cool temperatures!

Bonn right now: 15° C, cloudy.

hi, this year in italy we had a terrible May, with rainfalls and cold. Temperatures dropped by 10-15 celsius degrees or even more. So dont be scared, hopefully by your arrival you should enjoy an hot summer

Thank you. The cooler weather I do not mind, but I hope there is not too much rain.
