Marion told us over lunch that we would be walking all the way back down into Corvara rather than taking the cable car. This was probably the longest hike I had ever made…between 10 and 12 miles.
The way down was marked by fields of wildflowers, most notably these voluptuous yellow globe flowers.

Now we could begin to see some of the houses of Corvara.
When we hit pavement, we knew we were almost back.
We peered into a nicely kept Churchyard.
And a lovely kitchen garden.
That night we went to dinner in the town of Ojes (pronounced Oh, yes). The group included Marion Posch and her boyfriend Vincenzo, the Russian Vladimir, and me.
Fantastic photographs and what a beautiful place.
Thank you and yes, it is beyond beautiful.
extraordinary! it is so picture-book pretty 🙂
Indeed, it is.
Love the pictures and the story you tell, Rosemarie. That kitchen garden is remarkable – must take a lot of work to look after it.
Thank you.
The scenery is beyond breathtaking! I was trying to pick a favorite but no luck. I love them all! 🙂
This was my trip of a lifetime.
How sore were you after walking ‘downhill’ for that distance? I remember the muscle pain that my husband and I endured after walking down from the mountain in Stowe, Vermont many years ago. You use muscles that you normally don’t use on a descent like that. Beautiful scenery.
I was stiff, not sore. I took care with small steps, but I could feel the pull in my knees. I’m not sure that I am completely back to normal yet.
More beautiful photos Rosemarie. I love the wild flower meadows with the stunning mountain background – so many varieties in that photo – and the lovely yellow globe flowers. Makes me want to go to the mountains, but I’m afraid I couldn’t walk that far on a hilly landscape. You must be so proud of yourself for doing this.

I am.
Thanks, Stephen.
I think pretty much everywhere is going to be downhill from there. What a great trip and fantastic photos!
Lovely pictures.
Thank you.
I can see why you like this series. So picturesque and beautiful!!! 🙂
My dream vacation.
