Problem

10 Aug

I have now exceeded the amount of space I have on this site and cannot upload any more photos. I would love to finish the story of my vacation, but I can’t do it on this blog. Should I start a new blog? Shall I finish the story on my other blog….Edge of the Forest? Does anyone have any suggestions? Rosemarie

    Hello Rosemarie

You could resize your photos to something like 1024 x 683 pixels, or to less than 1 MB or even 500 kb each. I don’t know what size you normally use, but I think most of your images are very high resolution. I did that on my blog too, as I tend to include a lot of photos, and would have run out of space very soon.

It would mean going back to your earlier posts, though, and then deleting the large images and re-uploading smaller versions. The more expensive option is to buy a space upgrade, but even there you’d run out of space unless you kept your image sizes relatively small.

    Good luck!

    Hello Rosemarie,
sometimes I cancel Pictures or Comments of the last year. Nobody looks older posts. So I get enough space without buy an upgrade. Maybe I could help.

I host most of my images elsewhere (like Picasa or Shutterfly or another photo site) and link to them from my blog articles. For the ones I do upload to my blog, I reduce their size as Reggie suggested.above.

Please let me know what you decide to do because I didn’t even know that could be a problem. I wonder if deleting photos from your media library helps, also.

I ran into the same problem a few months back. Now I just delete photos from the media library. It only takes a few minutes. You click on the box next to each photo and then do a group delete. You can delete an entire page in a minute or less. It doesn’t affect your older posts.

Nice to know for the future.

I clicked the follow button for your new site but I couldn’t find the email function so that I get your posts sent directly to my email.

I vote for starting another blog–pictures are fabulous!

Ignore my previous post. Apparently when you delete photos from the library they are also removed from the posts where you used them. I’ve just bought a space upgrade for $20.00 ($22.00CDN).

I’ve also paid for a space upgrade, and think it’s worth it. I’m glad mamacormier updated her comment, as I had read somewhere that if you delete photos from the library, they are also removed from the posts where you featured them.

Take a cheap upgrade and resize your photos in future so that they are smaller. That way you will be able to blog without hitting a limit. I did the same and chose a small upgrade. Seemed the easiest option. Good luck. regards Peet

it’s very expensive to upgrade? on the other hand, I would follow and read also your posts via a new URL

I really don’t want to pay for an upgrade. Right now I have three blogs, Edge of the Forest shyraven23.wordpress.com
That’s where I do the challenges.
      Rosemarie in Europe 2013 rosemcereg.wordpress.com
Where I chronicled the preparations and actual trip until I ran out of room. Then I created
      Europe 2013…Africa 2014
which allowed me to finish my European trip and hopefully get through my safari in Botswana this summer.
      shyraven32.wordpress.com
      Probably too much information. 🙂
